New affordable housing in Sudbury will give seniors a safe, secure place to call home and create up to 190 new local construction jobs.
The Lepokoti Supportive Housing Apartment building broke ground today in Finlandia Village. The unique development will offer 61 new affordable units for seniors on fixed incomes and provide residents in need with long term supportive care.
Improving access to safe, stable and affordable housing across the province is an important part of the government's Open Ontario plan to build stronger communities and provide more opportunities for Ontario families to build a better future.
"Lepokoti is an excellent example of Ontario's commitment to helping those that need it the most. As part of our government's Open Ontario Plan, we are providing safe, affordable, and accessible housing for our seniors who are living on fixed incomes. This project will make a positive difference in the lives of many seniors here in Sudbury."
– Rick Bartolucci
Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing
"This funding will allow us to move forward with the largest project in the 30-year history of Finlandia. We are grateful to the Government of Ontario and to Minister Bartolucci for this expression of support and partnership."
