The Lincoln M. Alexander Awards recognize young leaders between the ages of 16 and 25 who are fighting racial discrimination in their communities. They were created in 1993 to celebrate the Honourable Lincoln M. Alexander's term as Ontario's 24th Lieutenant Governor.

Two awards are presented to full-time high school students. One award is presented to an Ontarian working in a community setting. Each recipient receives $5,000 and a scroll signed by the Lieutenant Governor and the Premier of Ontario.

Student candidates are nominated by faculty at their schools, while community award candidates are nominated by a community organization or agency. An independent selection committee reviews all nominations and selects the recipients.
