McGuinty Government Supports Business Growth, Creates Jobs
Ontario is helping an eastern Ontario company to modernize operations, expand its product line, and create jobs.
Fast-growing Northern Cables Inc. is investing in new equipment and technology that will allow the expansion of its industrial product line. The investment will also allow the company to expand its Brockville building space by 30,000 square feet and create 20 new full-time jobs. The province is contributing $1.5 million towards the project, through the Eastern Ontario Development Fund (EODF).
The project will help the company reduce its reliance on foreign suppliers for raw materials and significantly improve its competitive position in North America. The construction and product expansion will benefit a number of businesses in the area, from building contractors to machine shops.
Partnering with business is a key component of the Ontario government's five-point economic plan to grow the economy.
