Thunder Bay Using Film History To Attract New Investment

McGuinty Government Helping Strengthen Northern Economies
Ontario is supporting Thunder Bay's efforts to promote investment in the local film industry and other economic sectors.
Through the Northern Communities Investment Readiness (NCIR) program, the Thunder Bay Community Economic Development Commission is developing a website that will archive photographs and films of the region. The collection will be used to attract new investors.
Quick Facts
- The province is supporting this initiative with $10,000 from the NCIR program.
- The Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation also invests significantly in television and film production in the North through its Emerging Technology Program.
- To date, more than $1.8 million in NCIR funding has been approved for more than 200 initiatives across the North.
