The communities of South River and Sundridge will see increased safety and better traffic flow as a result of the final expansion of a new 17-kilometre four-lane bypass on Highway 11 south of North Bay.
The expansion work includes grading, drainage, lighting and paving. The existing two-lane Highway 11 between South River and Sundridge will be improved and become part of Highway 124 once the bypass opens. The new four-lane bypass will open to traffic in fall 2011.
About 230 jobs will be created through this project. It is part of the Open Ontario plan to bring economic growth and jobs to Northern Ontario.
"It is so exciting to know that our four-laning project of Highway 11 is nearing completion. This four-lane highway to North Bay will improve safety and increase opportunities for economic development in our region."
– Monique Smith
