McGuinty Government Partnering With Solar Renewable Technology Company
Ontario is helping to launch a new clean, renewable energy business in Terrace Bay.
With support from the province, Terrace Bay Solar Inc. is purchasing equipment to start a solar panel sale and installation company. The family-owned operation will design, sell, maintain and install solar panels, inverters and racking systems made in Ontario.
Ontario is replacing dirty, coal-fired plants with cleaner sources of power like wind, solar and bio-energy. It is part of the McGuinty government's plan to keep costs down for families today, while building a clean, modern and reliable electricity system for tomorrow.

QUICK FACTS
- Ontario is investing $100,000 in Terrace Bay Solar's project through the NOHFC's Northern Ontario Entrepreneur Program to help the business buy equipment to transport and install solar panels.
- Solar inverters are used to convert the DC power generated by solar panels to the AC power used by the electricity grid. Solar racking equipment is used to hold solar energy panels and angle them towards the sun.
- In the 2011 Ontario Budget, the government committed a $10-million increase for a total of $100 million to the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund in 2011-12. Ongoing support for the NOHFC is a key objective of the Growth Plan for Northern Ontario.
- Through Ontario's Green Energy Act, over 13,000 jobs have been created and the province is on track to create 50,000 jobs by the end of 2012.
- In June, Ontario had an increase of more than 40,000 jobs and the unemployment rate declined to 7.7 per cent.
