Statement from Deb Matthews, Minister of Health and Long Term Care
January 29, 2010 8:45 PM
The Toronto Grace Health Centre is a vital component of an integrated health care system in Toronto. The McGuinty Government believes that keeping services at Toronto Grace is what's best for patients and their community.
That's why I've taken the following two steps today. First, I've asked that the Salvation Army grant another extension to the Grace Hospital Board of Directors to give the board full opportunity to develop a plan to continue offering services at that location.
We are grateful to the Salvation Army for the decades of generous service they have provided the community.
Second, I've asked the Toronto Central Local Health Integration Network to hold back on issuing its RFP to give the Grace Board more time to come up with a plan.
I will make sure that Toronto Grace has a strong and bright future. I want to see the plan to keep the services at the present location.
