Statement on Toronto Grace Health Centre from Deb Matthews, Minister of Health and Long Term Care
February 1, 2010 5:30 PM
Tomorrow I will be meeting with representatives from the Toronto Grace Health Centre Board of Directors and the Canadian Union of Public Employees to discuss the importance of the services at Toronto Grace.
As Premier Dalton McGuinty said today, "Our shared responsibility now is to find a way to make sure that we can continue to deliver those services at that site."
That's why on Friday I asked the Salvation Army to give the Grace Hospital Board of Directors an extension to develop a plan to continue offering services at that location. I also asked the Toronto Central Local Health Integration Network to hold back on issuing its RFP to give the board more time to come up with a plan.
We are grateful to the Salvation Army for the decades of generous service they have provided thousands of Ontario families. We will make sure that legacy of quality care continues for years to come.
