   Ottawa, ON - Marathon Drilling Co. Ltd., a Greely, Ontario, construction company, was fined $65,000 for a violation of the Occupational Health and Safety Act after a worker was injured.

   London, ON - Parmalat Canada Inc., a producer of milk and dairy products, was fined $100,000 for a violation of the Occupational Health and Safety Act after a worker was injured.

4. Fitness Club Operator and Director Fined $130,000 For Employment Standards Violations

   Brampton, ON - Premier Fitness Clubs Inc., a Mississauga operator of 25 fitness clubs across Ontario, was fined $100,000 today for a violation of the Employment Standards Act regarding wages owed to employees. Neil Proctor, a director of the company, was fined $30,000 for the same violation.

   Toronto, ON - Holt Renfrew & Co. Ltd., Holt, Renfrew & CIE, Limitee, a Canadian retailer, was fined $55,000 today for a violation of the Occupational Health and Safety Act after a worker was injured.

    Chatham, ON - KSR International Co., carrying on business as Dresden Industrial-Ridgetown, a maker of vehicle parts, was fined $50,000 for a violation of the Occupational Health and Safety Act after a worker was injured.

11. Gas Company, Utility Locator and Excavator Fined in Excess of $1.1 Million Total After Explosion

    Toronto, ON - Enbridge Gas Distribution Inc., of North York, was fined $350,000 for a violation of the Occupational Health and Safety Act after an explosion near a construction site. Precision Utility Limited, a Mississauga provider of underground pipeline location services, was fined $200,000 in relation to the same incident. In addition, Enbridge pleaded guilty to charges under sec. 9(2) of Ontario Regulation 210/91 under the Technical Standards and Safety Act, 2000 and was fined an additional $350,000. Furthermore, the excavator on this project, Warren Bitulithic Ltd. pleaded guilty in October of 2006 under the same regulation and was fined $225,000.

    Kitchener, ON - 2236697 Ontario Inc., carrying on business as Delta Truck Equipment, a truck maintenance company, was fined $100,000 for a violation of the Occupational Health and Safety Act after a worker was killed. Phillip Hutton, a supervisor, was fined $15,000 in relation to the same incident.
