McGuinty Government Helping Local Processor, Protecting Environment
With the help of provincial funding, Ivanhoe Cheese is making environmental upgrades at its facility to exceed current standards and protect the province's drinking water.
Provincial support is helping this local cheese manufacturer install a wash water system which will allow for the treatment and re-use of a portion of the waste water that would normally be spread on farm fields over the summer months. Solid materials produced by the treatment system will be sent to an energy generating station.
Quick Facts
- The government is providing up to $377,000 for this rural economic development initiative.
