McGuinty Government Helping Improve Economy, Create Jobs

A new bakery-café and a farming education centre are coming to Belleville.

Provincial support is helping Grills Orchards to:

  • create up to nine full time jobs in addition to retaining four positions
  • build a new bakery and café highlighting local products and produce
  • expand existing retail and storage facilities
  • develop a learning centre focusing on farming practices and agricultural economies
  • launch a refreshed marketing campaign to increase existing sales
  • increase the current number of 23 local producers and suppliers by up to 20 more
  • improve and expand the viability of the orchard's business
  • open new markets for local farmers and businesses
  • increase visitors to the area

  • The government is providing up to $57,000 for this rural economic development initiative.
  • Grills Orchards is a family-run Ontario apple grower and retailer in Eastern Ontario.
