McGuinty Government Supports Local Businesses, Creates Jobs

An established food processing facility in Cobourg will expand its production, creating jobs, and strengthening the local economy.

With support from Ontario's Rural Economic Development Program, Ready Bake Foods (a Weston Foods subsidiary) is moving to a newly renovated state-of-the-art facility within the city. The new facility will help the business to operate more efficiently and produce new product lines.

This investment will create up to 60 new jobs and retain 90 skilled positions. It will also support the region's farmers and manufacturers by generating greater demand for local products.

A strong agri-food industry is part of the five-year Open Ontario Plan to create jobs and opportunities that will boost the province's economy.
