Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty today issued the following statement regarding the severe flooding in the Philippines as a result of recent typhoons:

"Our thoughts and prayers are with our friends in the Philippines as they work to rebuild after the tragic flooding caused by typhoons this fall.

Ontario is providing $200,000 to be channeled through the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies to support disaster relief efforts in the area.

Ontarians come from every corner of the world, so we are affected by such events, even when they strike far from our own borders, which is why we are moved to act."
