McGuinty Government Creates Jobs, Supports Ontario's High-Skilled Workforce

Premier Dalton McGuinty set the tone for Ontario's 40th parliament at a visit today to the University of Toronto's Rotman School of Management expansion project that's creating jobs today and for the future.

The Premier toured the new building, which is expected to open in May 2012. It will include more classroom space, a 400-seat event facility and be home to prestigious research centres including the Desautels Centre for Integrative Thinking and the Martin Prosperity Institute.

The new building will more than double the school's size and increase its annual graduating class from 265 to 400 students.

The Premier will ask the Lieutenant Governor to convene the Legislature on November 21 for the election of a new Speaker, followed by the Speech from the Throne on November 22.

QUICK FACTS

  • The expansion project at Rotman School of Management created 220 construction jobs.
  • Ontario has created 524,100 net new jobs for Ontario families since October 2003.
