To be eligible for a bursary, students must be:
- Canadian Citizens, Permanent Residents or Protected Persons living in Ontario
- enrolled in Ontario government-funded college or university bridge training programs for skilled newcomers that charge tuition/fees
- enrolled in programs not approved for the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP).
Needs-based bursaries are available for approved bridge training programs starting between September 1, 2009 and March 31, 2011. OBPAP applications must be received before the program ends or by March 31, 2011, which ever comes first.
Currently, 13 programs in eight colleges and universities are approved under the bursary program, including Centennial, Fanshawe and Mohawk colleges and University of Waterloo, University of Toronto, Ryerson University, McMaster University and York University.
For more information on eligibility, please visit Frequently Asked Questions. Application forms are available from the financial aid office of participating institutions. Financial need is determined by the college or university.
