Media advisory - Minister Runciman listens to business as he tours Southwestern Ontario
TORONTO, Aug. 21 /CNW/ - Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Bob Runciman, wraps up his tour of Southwestern Ontario tomorrow. The minister will tour two companies and meet with the London Chamber of Commerce and the Cambridge Chamber of Commerce.
DATE: Wednesday August 22, 2001
10:00 a.m. - Minister Runciman will tour Lamko Tool and Mold Inc. in London. The company is a leading manufacturer of high quality molds and speciality dies. Lamko Tool and Mold Inc. is a preferred supplier to the Ford Motor Company and General Motors. The company exports 90% of its production, mainly to the United States. However, the company exports to Turkey and is actively pursuing markets in Western Europe and the Far East.

12:00 p.m. - Minister Runciman will have lunch with the London Chamber of Commerce. He will address the Chamber on Ontario's economic competitiveness.

3:30 p.m.- Minister Runciman will tour ATS Automation Tooling Systems in Cambridge. The company automates manufacturing processes for the microelectronics, automotive and healthcare industries. The company employs two thousand people at five locations in Cambridge and one in Kitchener. The Cambridge based company also employs 3,400 people worldwide.

5:00 p.m. - Reception with the Cambridge Chamber of Commerce. Minister Runciman will meet with members of the Chamber.

On his tour of Southwestern Ontario, the Minister has met with business audiences to hear how they are doing. Minister Runciman wants to gain a greater understanding of the economic issues facing Southwestern Ontario as a result of this tour. He will also share his vision of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade's initiatives and goals.
