Statement from Dianne Cunningham Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities about Collège des Grands Lacs
TORONTO, Oct. 5 /CNW/ - The Board of Collège des Grands Lacs has officially informed me about their decision to wind down the College.
I support the Board in its decision to put the interests of the students and the francophone community first.
It needs to be made perfectly clear that the government remains committed to ensuring a high-quality post-secondary education for francophone students in Central and Southwestern Ontario.
The College has informed the ministry that classes will continue until other arrangements are made. We understand that the College will begin meeting with students to discuss contingency plans on Tuesday.
The ministry will begin discussions with Collège Boréal next week, to provide permanent French-language education in Central and Southwestern Ontario as quickly as possible.
