MEDIA ADVISORY UPDATE - Actions to promote trade and improve security on the table at Ontario Border Forum

TORONTO, Oct. 29 /CNW/ - Media are requested to pre-register for the Roundtable on Border Issues, a forum to help encourage and protect economic growth and job creation.
Ontario's Premier, Mike Harris and Economic Development and Trade Minister Bob Runciman are launching a half-day on Friday, November 2. Media should confirm their registration no later than October 30, 2001.
The Roundtable provides an opportunity to discuss the views and suggestions of senior executives from business, industry and government concerning the impacts of border security issues on Ontario's economy in the wake of the tragic events of September 11.
The formal discussions at the Roundtable will be held in camera. However, the media are invited to attend a photo opportunity at the start of the day's proceedings with Premier Harris and Minister Runciman, and to listen to the Premier's remarks and the Minister's remarks. At the end of the session, Minister Runciman will be available to the media to summarize the Roundtable's recommendations and to answer questions.

Date: Friday, November 2, 2001

Times: 1. Arrive 7:45 a.m. for a session-opening photo opportunity
2. 8:10 a.m. - Premier's Remarks & Minister's Remarks
3. 12:15 p.m. set up for media availability with the Minister,
which is expected to begin at approximately 12:30 p.m.

Location: St. Lawrence Hall, 157 King Street East, southwest corner of
Jarvis Street.

At the event, media will be notified of the location of the Media Room.
