Finalists named for northern Ontario Global Traders Awards

TORONTO, March 15 /CNW/ - The 15 finalists vying for 2001 Ontario Global Traders Regional Awards in northern Ontario are excellent examples of how a little innovation and a lot of hard work are making businesses and communities prosper, Economic Development and Trade Minister Bob Runciman announced today.
The awards, now in their fourth year, recognize the achievements of Ontario's small and medium-sized exporters, business leaders and students. The winners will be announced on April 11, 2002, at the regional awards ceremony, hosted by the City of North Bay at the Best Western North Bay, 700 Lakeshore Drive, beginning at noon.
"The 2001 awards program has produced outstanding candidates this year. They deserve our congratulations for taking risks, for creating new jobs and for helping to sustain the economic lifeblood of communities throughout Ontario," said the Minister.
Regional ceremonies will be held for southwestern Ontario in Guelph on March 21, central Ontario in Niagara Falls on March 28, and eastern Ontario in Brockville, on April 4. Top Regional Award recipients will compete for Provincial Awards, to be announced in Toronto on May 15, 2002.
"Our prosperity lies in our ability to succeed in global markets. That's why it is so important to recognize and celebrate the achievements of these companies and export leaders," said Duarte Miranda, Vice-President, Trade, RBC Global Services.
