Province congratulates General Motors of Canada Ltd. on additional shift announcement
OSHAWA, ON, May 6 /CNW/ - Ontario Minister of Enterprise, Opportunity and Innovation Jim Flaherty today praised General Motors of Canada Ltd. (GMCL) for the 1,000 jobs that will be added when it introduces a third shift at its Oshawa Car Assembly Plant Number 1.
"We see positive signs that the economy is gaining momentum, and your announcement is certainly a shining example," Flaherty told GMCL executive and staff at the company's announcement in Oshawa. "Our economy is reliant on the success of our automotive industry. GM of Canada continues to embrace new technology and remain a leader in this competitive industry."
"The people of GM of Canada, the CAW and our supplier partners are to be congratulated on the announcement of a third shift for the Oshawa Car Assembly Plant. Building vehicles with strong market demand and improving the capacity utilization in Oshawa will deliver economic benefits for the province of Ontario," said Michael Grimaldi, GMCL President.
