Inquest in the death of Andre Lamoureux announced

THUNDER BAY, ON, Oct. 24 - Dr. David Legge, Regional Supervising Coroner for Northwestern Ontario, today announced that an inquest will be held in the death of Andre Lamoureux. Mr. Lamoureux, 49, died September 7, 2000, at Sudbury General Hospital, following a serious injury sustained at the Falconbridge Kidd Creek mine, in Timmins, Ontario on September 3, 2000. Under the Coroners Act, an inquest is mandatory when a person dies as result of an accident at a mine. The inquest will review the events surrounding the death of Mr. Lamoureux and may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths. The inquest is expected to last up to three days. The inquest will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 3, 2003, at the Timmins Court House, Spruce St. Timmins, Ontario. Dr. James Deacon will preside as Inquest Coroner and Mr. Dale Cox will be Counsel to the Coroner.
