Inquest into the death of Christopher Millikin announced

PETERBOROUGH, ON, Oct. 24 - Dr. Bonita Porter, Deputy Chief Coroner of Inquests, today announced than an inquest will be held in the death of Christopher Millikin. Mr. Millikin, 31, died on September 17, 2002, at the Campbellford Memorial Hospital after being transferred from the Warkworth Institution. Under the Coroners Act, an inquest is mandatory when a person dies while in custody. The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding the death and the jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths. The inquest will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 17, 2003, at the Northumberland County Court House, 860 William Street, Cobourg. Dr. Peter Clark, Regional Supervising Coroner for North East Ontario, will be the presiding coroner and Mr. David Thompson, Northumberland County Crown Attorney, will be counsel to the coroner.
