Coroner's inquest in the death of Rodney Harten announced

THUNDER BAY, ON, Oct. 31 - Dr. David Legge, Regional Supervising Coroner for Northwestern Ontario, today announced that an inquest will be held in the death of Rodney Harten. Mr. Harten, 48, died at the Dome Mine in South Porcupine, on April 12, 2002. Under the Coroners Act, an inquest is mandatory when a person dies at a mine site. The inquest will review the events surrounding Mr. Harten's death and may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths. The inquest is expected to last three days. The inquest will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 10, 2003, at the Timmins District Court House, 48 Spruce Street North in Timmins. Dr. Ray Sawkiw will preside as the Inquest Coroner and Mr. Dave Thomas will be counsel to the Coroner.
