Inquest into the death of Lawrence Letren announced

BRAMPTON, ON, Nov. 21 - Dr. William Lucas, Regional Supervising Coroner for Central Region, today announced that an inquest will be held into the death of Lawrence Letren. Mr. Letren, 37, died May 17, 2001, as a result of injuries sustained in a machine rollover at a construction site. Under the Coroners Act, an inquest is mandatory when a person dies at a construction site. The inquest will review the events surrounding the death and may result in recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths. The inquest is expected to last three days. The inquest will begin at 9:30 a.m. on January 14, 2004, at the Pickering Municipal Council Chamber, 1 The Esplanade, Pickering (across from the Pickering Town Centre Mall). Dr. Richard Swain will preside as inquest coroner and Mr. Kent Saliwonchyk, Assistant Crown Attorney for Durham, will act as counsel to the coroner.
