Ontario government to honour 745 Toronto area volunteers

TORONTO, Dec. 3 - 745 volunteers from the Toronto area will be honoured with Ontario Volunteer Service Awards to be presented by the Citizenship and Immigration Minister Marie Bountrogianni. Volunteer Service Awards are an annual event in which the government thanks thousands of volunteers. The awards recognize volunteers with five, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and 50-plus years of continuous service. In the Toronto area, nine local residents will be honoured for 50-plus years of community service. Additionally, seven Outstanding Achievement Awards (OAA) for Voluntarism, that recognize exceptional community service, will be presented during the ceremony.
