Ministry of Education

Use until December 31, 2003 TORONTO, Dec. 20 - Gerard Kennedy, Ontario's Education Minister, is encouraging parents to take time out to read to their kids during the holidays. It's a hectic time of year, but reading is a great way to relax, spend time together and help our children learn. Parents are the single most important influence on their children. Kids who are exposed to books and reading early do better in kindergarten, and these benefits continue throughout their school life. Whether it's reading a story, helping with homework or simply spending time listening to our kids, parent involvement makes all the difference.
