Date announced for the inquest in the death of Jamie Barker

LONDON, ON, Jan. 5 - Dr. Thomas Wilson, Regional Supervising Coroner for Southwestern Ontario, today announced that a date has been set for the previously announced inquest into the death of Jamie Barker. Mr. Barker, 28, was seen to disappear on November 14, 2000, during a construction-related accident on the Ambassador Bridge in Windsor. His body was later recovered from the Detroit River on April 6, 2001. The inquest will review the events surrounding Mr. Barker's death and may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths. The inquest is expected to last three to four weeks and to hear from approximately 20 witnesses. The inquest is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. on June 14, 2004, at the Essex County Courthouse, 245 Windsor Avenue, Windsor. Dr. Thomas Wilson, Regional Supervising Coroner for Southwestern Ontario will preside. The coroner's counsel will be Mr. Robert Ash.
