Inquest in the death of Ted Hackett announced

LONDON, ON, Jan. 5 - Dr. Thomas Wilson, Regional Supervising Coroner for Southwestern Ontario, today announced that an inquest will be held into the death of Kenneth Theodore (Ted) Hackett. Mr. Ted Hackett, 62, died September 26, 2002, in Stratford General Hospital from injuries sustained in an accident occurring during the course of his work at a construction site in Stratford. Under the Coroners Act, an inquest is mandatory when a worker dies as a result of an accident occurring at a construction project. The inquest will review the events surrounding Mr Hackett's death and may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths. The inquest is expected to last two days and to hear from approximately 10 witnesses. The inquest will begin at 10:00 a.m. on February 10, 2004, at the Perth County Courthouse, 1 Huron Street, Stratford. The coroner's counsel will be Mr. Garth Burrow, Crown Attorney, County of Perth.
