Inquest into the death of David Boyd announced

PETERBOROUGH, ON, Jan. 14 - Dr. Peter Clark, Regional Supervising Coroner for North East Ontario, today announced that an inquest will be held in the death of David Boyd. Mr. Boyd, 58, died on November 25, 2002, at the Warkworth Correctional Facility. Under the Coroners Act, an inquest is mandatory when a person dies while in custody. The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding the death and the jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths. The inquest will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 24, 2004, at the Northumberland County Court House, 860 William Street, Cobourg. Dr. A. E. Lauwers will be the presiding coroner and Mr. David Thompson, Crown Attorney, will be counsel to the coroner.
