TORONTO, Sept. 3 - The Hon. James K. Bartleman will join with dignitaries and fans to congratulate Olympics silver medal wrestler Tonya Verbeek at a homecoming celebration in her hometown, Beamsville. Ms Verbeek will receive a hero's welcome after her success in the ladies 55 kg wrestling class. This was the first time ladies wrestling was included in the Olympics program. WHAT Homecoming Celebration for Tonya Verbeek WHERE Sobey's parking lot, 4610 Ontario Street, Beamsville WHEN Saturday 4 September at 12:00 noon Tonya Verbeek will arrive in a 1930 Model "A" Ford, escorted by Niagara Regional Police and the OPP. She will be greeted by an honour guard, and after speeches by the Lieutenant Governor, the Hon. Jim Bradley, Minister of Tourism and Recreation, the local MP, MPPS, Mayor and others, Ms Verbeek will speak and then cut a large Canadian flag cake. Event participants include the Town of Lincoln Concert Band, Beamsville Lions Club, Boy Scouts Troop no.127, the Town of Lincoln Leapers, Uptown Skate Boarders and martial arts students. DIRECTIONS: Exit from the QEW onto Ontario Street, turn left onto Lincoln Avenue, then left onto Green Lane, and continue to Sobey's grocery store.
