Inquest in the death of David Efford announced

BRAMPTON, ON, May 3 - Dr. William Lucas, Regional Supervising Coroner for Central Ontario, today announced that an inquest will be held in the death of David Efford. Mr. Efford, 44, died March 11, 2003, at St. Michael's Hospital, from complications arising as a result of injuries sustained from a fall from a roof on February 14, 2003. Under the Coroners Act, an inquest is mandatory when a person dies accidentally as a consequence of injuries that occur at a construction site. The inquest will review the events surrounding the death, including safety training and use of fall-restraint apparatus, and may result in recommendations aimed at the prevention of deaths in similar circumstances. The inquest is scheduled for two days. The inquest will begin at 9:30 a.m. on June 20, 2005, at the East Gwillimbury Council Chambers, 19000 Leslie Street, Sharon.
