Inquest in the death of Andre Prevost announced

KINGSTON, ON, May 10 - Dr. Andrew McCallum, Regional Supervising Coroner for Eastern Ontario, today announced that an inquest will be held in the death of Andre Prevost. Mr. Prevost, 52, died on April 21, 2002, at the Ottawa Hospital - Civic Site, from injuries sustained in an accident that occurred while working on a roof at a site in Arnprior. Under the Coroners Act, an inquest is mandatory when a worker dies as a result of an accident occurring at a construction project. The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding the death and the jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths. The inquest is expected to last two days. The inquest will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 9, 2005, in the Madawaska Room of the Quality Inn, 70 Madawaska Boulevard in Arnprior. Dr. Gordon Watt will be presiding coroner and Mr. John Pepper will be counsel to the coroner.
