Inquest in the death of David Bredesen announced

BRAMPTON, ON, May 10 - Dr. William Lucas, Regional Supervising Coroner for Central Ontario, today announced that an inquest will be held in the death of David Bredesen. Mr. Bredesen, 54, died October 20, 2003, as a result of crush injuries sustained while working at a construction site. Accidental injury deaths at construction projects are subject to a mandatory inquest under the Coroners Act. The inquest will review the events surrounding the death and will include a review of training and safety issues. It may result in recommendations aimed at the prevention of deaths in similar circumstances. The inquest is anticipated to last for two days. The inquest will begin on June 20, 2005, at 9:30 a.m. at the Ontario Court of Justice, Provincial Offences Office, 5 Ray Lawson Boulevard, Brampton. Dr. Robert Boyko will preside as inquest coroner. Mr. David Maylor, Assistant Crown Attorney, will act as counsel to the coroner.
