WINDSOR, ON, Aug. 21 - The City of Windsor, the Government of Ontario and the Government of Canada today recognized the success of 400 City Hall Square East, an innovative, multi-jurisdictional approach to providing convenient access for citizens to a host of government information, services and transactions. All three levels of government are co-located in this building, which has been open since January 2006. "Windsor City Council is committed to enhancing the quality of life of individuals and families," said Councillor Fulvio Valentinis, representing Mayor Eddie Francis and Windsor City Council. "One way we do this is through the efficient and cost-effective delivery of government services and programs. 400 City Hall Square East is a good example of a productive collaboration with other levels of government that successfully delivers a wide range of services in one convenient location." "When asked for more convenient services, we deliver," said Sandra Pupatello, Ontario Minister of Education and MPP for Windsor West. "Ontario families lead busy lives - this one-stop shopping option is making it easier for them to access a wide range of provincial government information and services in one location." "Canadians told us they want dealing with government to be easier and quicker," said Jeff Watson, MP for Essex. "400 City Hall Square East provides an excellent example of how federal, provincial and municipal governments can work together to provide services that make sense, are easy to access and that bring the right advice and assistance together at the right time." At 400 City Hall Square East, citizens can access services such as: - Parking ticket payments - Housing services - Birth, marriage and death certificates - Health cards - Pleasure craft licensing - Online Employment Insurance Contact Info The City of Windsor is making service simple and keeping it that way. From the 311 call centre to its expanding Customer Care Centres, to countless innovative projects such as 400 City Hall Square East, the City is committed to streamlining and enhancing services and providing residents with less process and more progress. ServiceOntario is making it easier for people to access the Ontario government information and services they need online, by phone and in person. As part of the Ontario Government's commitment to high-quality, cost-effective and accessible services, it introduced a 15-day, money-back guarantee for online birth certificate applications in effect since November. It is the first money-back government service guarantee in North America. The Government of Canada is committed to serving Canadians better and to building a citizen-centred government through Service Canada. The federal government is reaching more Canadians with the right services at the right time at 400 City Hall Square East.
