Media Advisory - Lieutenant Governor to present Queen's Plate gold cup
TORONTO, June 23 /CNW/ - The Hon. James K. Bartleman will arrive in a horse-drawn landau and will later present the Gold Cup at the 148th running of The Queen's Plate Stakes on Sunday 24 June at Woodbine Race Track, 555 Rexdale Boulevard (Hwy 27 at Grandstand Road) in Toronto.
2:10 PM The Lieutenant Governor will arrive by horse-drawn landau
(open carriage) and then proceed to the Royal Box to view
the afternoon's races.
4:30 PM Following the eighth race, The Queen's Plate Stakes,
Mr Bartleman will walk to the Winners' Circle in the
infield, to present the Gold Cup to the owner, trainer and
jockey of the winning horse.
The Queen's Plate is Canada's oldest sporting event. Since it was established in 1860, it has drawn members of the Royal Family and representatives of the Crown, including past Ontario Lieutenant Governors the late Hon. Pauline McGibbon, the late Hon. John Black Aird, the Hon. Lincoln M. Alexander, the Hon. Henry N.R. Jackman and the Hon. Hilary M. Weston. The Hon. James K. Bartleman presented the Gold Cup at the 145th running of the Queen's Plate in 2004.
