TORONTO, July 10 - The Hon. James K. Bartleman has offered his congratulations to Mr David Onley upon his appointment today as the 28th Lieutenant Governor of Ontario. His Honour spoke with Mr Onley by telephone today, and tomorrow he will host a private luncheon for Mr Onley to welcome him to Queen's Park. Mr Bartleman will remain Lieutenant Governor until the formal installation of Mr Onley, who will be the Lieutenant Governor-designate until his installation. ABOUT DAVID C. ONLEY Contact Info Mr David Charles Onley was paralyzed with polio from the neck down at the age of three. He has been a lifelong advocate for ability, a cause he will continue to champion as Lieutenant Governor while serving as an encouraging role model for disabled people, especially for youth. Mr Onley was Ontario's first reporter with a disability and has worked as a journalist/host at CityTV/CP24 for the past 22 years. His tireless volunteer work has advanced the cause of the disabled in the province and throughout the country. For his efforts, he received an honorary doctorate and was inducted into the Terry Fox Hall of Fame. In 2005, he was appointed Chair of the Accessibility Standards Advisory Council to the Minister of Community and Social Services.
