McGuinty Government Consults With Business Community In Chatham

Discussions With Small And Medium-Sized Businesses Will Help Set Priorities CHATHAM, ON, Dec. 13 - The McGuinty government held a regional consultation with small and medium-sized businesses from across Southwestern Ontario in Chatham today, said Minister of Small Business and Entrepreneurship Harinder Takhar. "Southwestern Ontario offers a number of advantages for entrepreneurs and small business owners," said Takhar. "These discussions are an opportunity to hear first-hand about the challenges facing the business community and also to share ideas and solutions for the future." Sophia Aggelonitis, Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Small Business and Entrepreneurship, led the discussions, which will help the ministry set priorities. "We know there are challenges, particularly in the manufacturing sector, that are impacting Ontario businesses," said Aggelonitis. "Today's session will give us more information about how government can further support the small business community." "The small business community plays an important role in the economic health of Southwestern Ontario," said Pat Hoy, MPP for Chatham-Kent-Essex. "We are committed to working with business owners to develop solutions to the challenges currently impacting Ontario's business climate." Today's consultation is part of a five-stop tour across the province. Minister Takhar held regional consultations in Mississauga (November 14), Ottawa (November 19), this morning in Toronto, and will also be visiting Sudbury. "The economic regions of Ontario face diverse challenges and offer unique advantages," said Takhar. "Today's discussion is another example of the McGuinty government and local business communities working together to ensure that Ontario remains a great place to conduct business."
