Inquest into the death of Donald Douglas Moore announced

TORONTO, Dec. 19 - Dr. Jack Stanborough, Acting Regional Supervising Coroner for Central West Ontario, today announced that an inquest will be held into the death of Mr. Donald Douglas Moore. Mr. Moore, 36, died on April 2, 2004, at the Maplehurst Correctional Complex in Milton. Under the Coroners Act, an inquest is mandatory when a person dies while in custody. The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding Mr. Moore's death and the inquest jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths. The inquest is to begin on March 17, 2008, at the John Sopinka Courthouse, 45 Main Street East, Hamilton. Dr. David H. Evans will preside as inquest coroner.
