McGuinty Government Supporting Just For Laughs Toronto Festival

The internationally renowned Just for Laughs festival in Toronto runs until July 26th.
This year Just for Laughs (http://hahaha.com/en/) is expanding its free outdoor performances which will take place in the Yonge-Dundas Square. Last year the programming attracted more than 60,000 people.
Free events this year will also include international acts from France, England, Spain and the United States and feature circus troupes, acrobatics and live theatre.
The province is providing $200,000 through the Ontario Cultural Attractions Fund, which helps develop, promote and present unique events and exhibitions. Ontario is home to more than 3,000 festivals and events, which contribute millions of dollars to the economy each year.

"Ontario is pleased to help make this event accessible to more people by supporting and promoting the expansion of free outdoor performances."

QUICK FACTS
- Just For Laughs has been a popular festival in Montreal for over
25 years. In 2007, it successfully launched itself in Toronto as a
three-day pilot project.
- Organizers project this year's festival will attract a minimum of
90,000 visitors to ticketed events, which include performances by
Canadian comedian Martin Short and Seinfeld star Jason Alexander.
- The culture sector generates almost $20 billion of Ontario's Gross
Domestic Product.
