Inquest into the death of Roger Dalton postponed

THUNDER BAY, ON, Dec. 3 /CNW/ - Dr. David Eden, Regional Supervising Coroner for North Region, Thunder Bay Office, today announced that the inquest into the death of Roger Dalton has been postponed.
Mr. Dalton, 60, died on September 10, 2007, at the Bingham Memorial Hospital in Matheson following a transfer from the Monteith Correctional Complex. Under the Coroners Act, an inquest is mandatory when a person dies while in custody.
The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding Mr. Dalton's death and the jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.
The inquest was originally scheduled to begin on Wednesday, December 3, 2008, at the Superior Court of Justice, 48 Spruce Street North, Timmins. A new date has not yet been determined.
