Inquest into the death of Helmuth Buxbaum announced

PETERBOROUGH, ON, Dec. 23 /CNW/ - Dr. Peter Clark, Regional Supervising Coroner for East Region, Peterborough Office, today announced that an inquest will be held into the death of Helmuth Buxbaum.
Mr. Buxbaum, 68, died on November 1, 2007, at the Kingston General Hospital following a transfer from the Warkworth Institution in Campbellford. Under the Coroners Act, an inquest is mandatory when a person dies while in custody.
The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding Mr. Buxbaum's death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing deaths in similar circumstances.
The inquest will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 29, 2009, at the Portsmouth Olympic Harbour Complex, 53 Yonge Street, Kingston. Dr. Donald Cooke will preside as inquest coroner.
