The Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario (ETFO) resumed discussions with the Ontario Public School Boards' Association (OPSBA), facilitated by the government, before the November 30th deadline.

The purpose of these discussions is to reach a four-year labour framework agreement.

English public elementary teachers are the only unionized employees in Ontario's school boards who are not covered by a four-year provincial framework agreement.

ETFO and OPSBA have jointly requested that the government provide a five-day extension for them to reach a provincial framework agreement and remain eligible for the full funding enhancements offered by the government.

The government has accepted this request.

A communications black-out has been agreed to by all parties involved while provincial discussions are ongoing.
