Only Three Weeks Left For Premier's Awards Nominations
McGuinty Government Celebrates Excellence in Education
February 1 is the final day to nominate an Ontario educator for this year's Premier's Awards for Teaching Excellence.
The awards recognize outstanding school and school board staff who make exceptional contributions to Ontario schools, and support, motivate and inspire Ontario students.
There are six award categories that recognize individuals who make a difference in education:
- Teacher of the Year
- New Teacher of the Year
- Excellent Support Staff
- Excellence in Leadership
- Team of the Year
- Lifetime Achievement
- Anyone can submit a nomination.
- An independent selection panel will review the nominations and award recipients will be announced in the spring.
- Since the awards were launched in 2006-07, more than 3,000 nominations have been received and over 50 educators and support staff have been recognized.
“The people who work in Ontario schools are dedicated to helping students reach their full potential. These awards give us the opportunity to honour these exceptional individuals for their contributions.”
“I was truly humbled by this award recognition. My faith in our education system is so much stronger after hearing the great stories of the many dedicated educators we have in this province.”
