Ontario Supporting New Secondary School Building in Windsor

Province Funding Site for the New Home of Catholic Central High School

Ministry of Education

Ontario's government is protecting what matters most by investing in new local schools to help provide our students with a world-class education system that ensures they have the skills they need to succeed. Today the province announced it is providing more than $7 million in funding to help secure the site for the new Catholic Central High School building in Windsor.

This investment will support the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board in purchasing 11 acres of land, where a new school building will be constructed with space for more than 900 students in grades 9 to 12. The new Catholic Central High School will be conveniently located a short distance from the existing school site to continue serving the local community.

"We're protecting what matters most by providing students and families with better schools for better learning," said Lisa Thompson, Minister of Education. "By supporting communities like Windsor with modern, new school facilities, we're helping to lay the groundwork for our students' success."

Ontario recently announced Education that Works for You, a new plan to modernize curriculum, modernize classrooms and empower educators to better prepare students for the realities of today's modern world. By supporting new school infrastructure projects, the government is helping education work for communities like Windsor.
