The three successful partners from the 2019 Call for Development are:
Therme Group
Therme Group is a global organization known for creating the world’s largest and most technologically advanced entertainment and well-being destinations. Therme offers a natural urban oasis where people can have fun, relax, and unwind from their busy lives, and promotes physical and mental health as part of a sustainable lifestyle. Therme operates, and has under development, locations in the United Kingdom, Europe, and Asia-Pacific, plus new locations to be announced worldwide.
Therme is delivering an affordable, all-season destination that has something for all ages. Therme Canada | Ontario Place will be a family-friendly experience with options that appeal to everyone, including pools, waterslides, botanical gardens to relax, and sports performance and recovery services. Outside, people will enjoy over eight acres of free, publicly accessible gathering spaces, outdoor gardens, and public beaches.
Therme is also a partner of local and global arts and culture organizations and will bring inspiring programming to Ontario Place, giving people the opportunity to enjoy a day of fun at the waterfront and participate in immersive arts experiences outside the spaces of galleries and museums.
The creation of Therme at Ontario Place will bring together global and local expertise.
Live Nation
World’s leading live entertainment company, Live Nation plans to fully redesign and rebuild the Budweiser Stage at Ontario Place, transforming it into a modern, year-round, indoor-outdoor live music and performance venue with an expanded capacity of 20,000 in the summer and 9,000 in the winter. Since opening the doors 25 years ago, Live Nation has seen more than eight million music fans attend a concert at this celebrated venue.
The new state-of-the-art amphitheater will continue to attract world-class artists and provide premier live entertainment, hosting live music and other events. With sustainability at the heart of the design, the redesigned amphitheatre at Ontario Place will be designed and built using strategies aimed at improving performance across all the metrics that matter most: energy savings, water efficiency, greenhouse gas emissions reduction, improved indoor environmental quality, and stewardship of resources and sensitivity to their impacts.
Completion is expected by 2030, with the new facility expected to receive up to one million visitors per year.
Écorécréo Group
Founded in 1998, Écorécréo Group is a Canadian-based company specializing in the development and operation of creative outdoor and environmentally friendly activities, operating close to 20 summer and winter sites combined across Quebec.
Écorécréo will bring an all-season, pay-to-play, family-friendly adventure park to Ontario Place, by 2024. This new themed park will include aerial obstacle courses, net-based aerial adventures, ziplines, escape rooms, climbing walls, Segway and quad-cycle rentals and many other activities for all ages. Écorécréo Group’s mission is to serve city dwellers and tourists alike by giving them access to a fun and family-oriented adventure park that will help bring back the magical atmosphere to Ontario Place.
In 2015, the Group launched Voiles en Voiles in the Old Port of Montreal, a thrilling adventure park set in a world of Pirates and Explorers, which quickly became one of Montreal’s must-see attractions.
The new exclusive attraction site at Ontario Place is expected to entertain over 500,000 visitors per year by 2030.
