Four-Laning Highway 11/17 Between Thunder Bay and Nipigon

Ontario is creating about 450 jobs by four-laning another section of Highway 11/17 between Thunder Bay and Nipigon.
Two new lanes will be added from Highway 527 easterly for 13 kilometres, complementing a four-laning project between Hodder Avenue and Highway 527 completed in Sept. 2012. Construction will begin later this year with completion expected in 2015. Another four-laning project is also underway between Mackenzie Station Road and Birch Beach Road.
Once all expansion work is complete, there will be 33 kilometres of four-lane highway from Hodder Avenue to Birch Beach, ensuring safer, more efficient commutes for families and goods along this important section of Highway 11/17.
Investing in Northern Ontario's roads, highways and bridges is part of the McGuinty government's Growth Plan for Northern Ontario. A strong northern economy creates local jobs and protects the services that mean the most to families -- health care and education.
