Ontario Applauds Environmental Excellence

McGuinty Government Celebrates Green Achievers

Ontario is honouring outstanding local efforts to protect the environment through the Minister's Award for Environmental Excellence.

The awards are presented each year to individuals and organizations in Ontario who have demonstrated leadership in environmental stewardship in their communities.

The recipients of the 2011 Minister's Award for Environmental Excellence are Bonnie Jean-Louis, REEP Green Solutions, Steam Whistle Brewing, Kawartha Farm Stewardship Collaborative, Summerhill Impact and FEPRO Farms.

In 2012, the award will recognize people and organizations who contribute to protecting the Great Lakes. Ontarians can nominate candidates whose efforts are enhancing and fostering environmental stewardship of the Great Lakes.

Protecting the environment is part of the McGuinty government's plan for a strong green economy that creates jobs for Ontario families.

  • The call for 2012 applications for the Minister's Award for Environmental Excellence will be accepted until July 16, 2012.
  • Candidates can be nominated in 6 categories: individual, community, non-governmental organization, institution, large business and small business.
