Windsor Manufacturing Company Fined $25,000 for Discharging Strong Odours

Windsor - Klinec Electric Services and Manufacturing Limited was fined $25,000 for discharging very strong odours into the environment causing adverse effects, contrary to the Environmental Protection Act.

The company operates an electro-coating facility located in Windsor. The ministry received complaints of strong odours coming from the facility. A ministry officer arrived in the area and experienced a very strong odour that caused burning to the officer's nose and lungs. The odour could be smelled in an area up to three blocks away. The company was notified by the officer to look into the matter. The odours continue to be an issue.

The company was fined $25,000 plus a victim fine surcharge of $6,250 and was given one year to pay the fine.
