Company Fined $5,500 For Water Violations

Barrie - Palgrave Fellowship of Christians Inc. pleaded guilty to two offences and was fined $5,500 for failing to meet a number of requirements for suitable operation of a drinking water system, contrary to the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA).

The company operates a multi-use facility for conferences, youth camps, church meetings and other functions in the Township of Adjala-Tosorontio.

An inspection was conducted by the ministry revealing that testing had not been performed on the drinking water system's two wells and adjustments to the water treatment equipment were carried out by untrained persons.

Subsequently, the matter was referred to the Ministry's Investigation and Enforcement Branch.

The company was convicted of two offences, was fined $5,500 plus a victim fine surcharge of $1,375 and was given 12 months to pay the fine.
