Truck Owner fined $800 for Drive Clean Violations

Convicted - Nicholas Glenn Peter Hamer

Location - Barrie

Description of Offence - Nicholas Glenn Peter Hamer was convicted on one count for a violation relating to non-compliance with a ministry order relevant to the Drive Clean standards. On August 17, 2015, ministry staff inspected Mr. Hamer's Silverado truck. The vehicle was missing several emission components.  Ministry staff issued an order to cease operation of the vehicle until it was in compliance with the emission standards. Mr. Hamer failed to comply with the order.

Date of Offence - On or about October 1, 2015

Date of Conviction - August 23, 2017

Penalty Imposed - Mr. Hamer pleaded guilty to one charge under the Environmental Protection Act (EPA), was fined $800 plus a victim fine surcharge (VFS) of $125 and was given six months to pay.

Background - The matter was referred to the ministry's Investigations and Enforcement Branch and following an investigation, charges were laid and a conviction resulted.
